#31937: decide and document that stuff in the CacheDirectory can be deleted while Tor is running --------------------------+------------------------ Reporter: arma | Owner: (none) Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: Medium | Milestone: Component: Core Tor/Tor | Version: Severity: Normal | Resolution: Keywords: | Actual Points: Parent ID: | Points: Reviewer: | Sponsor: --------------------------+------------------------
Comment (by eighthave): I think the bigger question is sorting out the true "cache" files that can be deleted at will, and the "data" files that need to be kept around. XDG's definition is a little looser, but not much: "There is a single base directory relative to which user-specific non-essential (cached) data should be written. This directory is defined by the environment variable $XDG_CACHE_HOME."https://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir- spec-latest.html To me, "non-essential" means things will run regardless of the presence of those files. So XDG's definition of "cache" is pretty much the same as Android's. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/31937#comment:3> Tor Bug Tracker & Wiki <https://trac.torproject.org/> The Tor Project: anonymity online
