I'm going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out how to use UDP sockets
in firefox and eventually got to this open ticket:

From what I can tell, the functionality we need to even implement our own
use of STUN isn't available from mozilla (yet, and looking at the last
time it was worked on probably not soon either).
Perhaps we should abandon this for the moment...
