I worked at this over night and I found it to be a total nightmare. I have
lots of ctypes related issues that appear to be related to Firefox ->
Thunderbird porting. I may abandon hope here as we seem to have found a
partial solution to the things that needed (eg: gpg) an HTTP proxy in
#6940.
