I think these task should be tackled whenever the respective sources are
touched anyway.
Bigger changes for example DescriptorImpl should be attempted whenever
there is time available.
This surely concerns #17824 and partially also #17823.
Are there coding guidelines here? If not, these could be copied from
Onionoo and extended.
(Well, actually the child ticket's topics concern Onionoo too.
