Hi,

UseEntryGuardsAsDirGuards defaults to 1 in torrc.

So if you did not change this default you will use entry guards for
tunneling directory connections.

That doesn't seem to be the case. Tor from TBB 5.0 startup (directory
info was a couple of days old):
