# Status report for May 2016 - Attended the Montreal hidden service hackfest.
Most of the work that came out was development, proposal writing and testing by setting up a "test network" that is 10 test directory authorities doing shared randomness. Blog post detailing a bit the event: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/mission-montreal-building-next-generation-onion-services - Development on proposal 250: Some fixes were needed after the Montreal hackfest that is after nickm's second review and discussion with the team. Our test network also found nice bugs. Branch is again under review in #16943. - Development on proposal 224: Worked on child tickets of #17238 (HSDir support). Refactoring some part of the tor code linked to HS: #19024 - Defended the network against malicious HSDirs/Relays (the usual monthly battle...) - Ticket worth mentioning: Some Review: #14013: base16_decode() API is inconsistent and error-prone #16698: Split directory_handle_command_get into per-command functions #17868: base64_decode_nopad() destination buffer length problem #18362: Tor could use a generic 'handle' implementation #18363: Tor could use a publish/subscribe abstraction
