I consider removing the old mailing list addresses right after moving a
really bad idea. It should've been possible to keep the old addresses
around for a few days to allow people a smooth transition.

This is unneccessary and rude. IMHO.

Jason, people are actually using these addresses without checking all
the mailing list articles all the time. You might want to consider
thinking about things like this when moving and changing things.
Backward compatibility is good.
