Fixed this by using the encoding in the header of the xml file as encofding
when parsing the xml file.
The behaviour is very difficult to test. In the test project, the schema.xml
files get copied and filtered before they are used, which may mess up the
encoding. Then, most editors seem to cache whether a file is utf-8 or
iso-8859-1, and they tend to recognize the encoding header of an xml file, so
it is very difficult to predict the encoding they use to save the file.
