Hi Torque devs, Brian, our long-term PMC chair of the Apache Db project decided to resign.
Discussion about who wants to become the new chair already started in JDO sub project, but currently, to my knowledge, no candidate yet showed their interest to do it. I cite from the jdo developer list (Craig Russell - Monday, December 8, 2025 10:07:02 PM GMT+1): A PMC chair basically is an Apache Foundation Vice President with a small number of responsibilities, primarily to report to the board each quarter. Since JDO is a very active project it makes sense for one of the JDO team to be VP, DB. As a reminder, Apache Db has now two still two active sub projects, JDO and Torque, while Derby retired. Any PMC member could become chair: https://community.apache.org/pmc/chair.html Apart from the quarterly reports it is a chance to learn more about the Apache community. We might also decide to rotate the chair .. I consider Torque as the smaller project, but still active, though to a lesser extent .. What do you think? Do you support a chair from JDO or what do you think? Thanks! With best regards, Georg
