HKLM and HKCU are two root paths in the windows registry. HKLM is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. This section is the same for all users. Normally it is

only writable by an administrator. HKCU is HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Every user

has its own HKCU section. (And does not see the sections from the others.)



HKMU (Machone or User?) does only exist in the installer. It is replaced by

HKLM on per-machine installation and by HKCU for per-user installation.
