Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Interface Improvements (example) Group: Next Release (example) >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: amino acid (aminoacid) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Add "most recent" to all text input fields Initial Comment: All text input dialogs should save a history of the most recent entries, and allow them to be selected via a pulldown menu. Examples: 1) Synchronize dialog has this option, but it only seems to save URLs -- it should also save local directories / paths, to make it easier to migrate changes between local repositories 2) The clone dialog -- source path & destination path should save at least several recent entries, so you can quickly pick them from a pull-down menu. This would make it much easier to clone, if you have a repository you clone often then you can save some typing. A perfect example of this feature in action is on the commit dialog -- it saves several recent commit messages that you can pull down from a list. This feature would make it much easier for people to use the tool and make it easier for people migrating from another tool (such as TortoiseSVN). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: TK Soh (tksoh) Date: 2008-03-07 03:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=411637 Originator: NO I don't really feel that even 600 px will be enough, especially on Windows. So I am going to keep it for now. Instead, I pushed a change that ellipsize the long source paths, which should make it easier to identify the paths. The only potential issue is that we will now need to widen the dialog to display the paths fully. Before the change, we just need to slide the hscroll bar to read the full paths. I like the new dialog better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: amino acid (aminoacid) Date: 2008-03-06 23:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1739017 Originator: YES Tk, That looks *awesome*, I have taken the liberty of copying your work to enable the same thing for destination. Thanks for your hard work! Any chance you would make the clone dialog a bit wider (say, 600 pixels)? Common local paths are quite long and 400px just doesn't quite fit... so you have to scroll right in the text box to see what the path really is. e.g. if the path is C:\Documents and Settings\foo\Desktop\coding\hg\my_repo then 400 px will only display "C:\Documents and Settings\foo" and you have to scroll right to see the "my_repo" which is the most important part. I googled to see if there is a way to make the text box align right, no such luck... can we make the clone dialog wider or do you think others would object? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: TK Soh (tksoh) Date: 2008-03-05 01:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=411637 Originator: NO FYI, the crew version of clone dialog now saves the recently cloned src: http://tortoisehg.sourceforge.net/hg/tortoisehg-crew/rev/b4bf54ece7f9 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: amino acid (aminoacid) Date: 2008-02-29 22:05 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1739017 Originator: YES Tk, Thanks for the clarification / insight. It would be cool if the history functionality that is planned for the commit dialog was modular enough to be easily added to any text field... I have always loved this feature in TortoiseSVN and hope it makes its way into TortoiseHG. Thanks, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: TK Soh (tksoh) Date: 2008-02-29 20:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=411637 Originator: NO Actually the synch dialog doesn't save the history, it simply picks up the URL from the [paths] sections of hgrc. But saving the history of recent entries is on the TODO list. At least for the commit dialog. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=968357&aid=1904182&group_id=199155 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ Tortoisehg-develop mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/tortoisehg-develop
