  There is an 'Undo' button on the commit tool.  It does a 'rollback' of the 
commit you just made.  The button is only sensitive after a commit, so it's 
only usable between the time of making a commit and closing the tool.

Once the commit tool is closed, you must use the rollback button in the 
recovery tool.

As for the auto-selection, it is not-obvious what the right thing to do is.  
I've been struggling with this for a while.  You may be right about leaving all 
unselected.
