I'm contemplating to fix issue 867 [1] with the following patch. The patch inserts Windows APIs CharLower [2] and CharLowerBuff calls on all paths going into the overlay logic, with the intent to do all path comparison in lowercase.
Since I'm not that much of a string encoding guru, I'm sending this patch to the list for review/comments. So don't push this right now, please. If this patch turns out to be viable, then I think it would best go into the default branch to have a bit longer testing phase before it goes into a release. So this patch is *not* intended for stable. Yuki, would this work for Japanese? (no need to hurry with an answer, I see it's already past midnight in Tokyo).
