What do you think a tool does if it tries to delete a
non-existing registry key? Format your harddisk?

Hopefully not, since the installation of those registry
keys could have failed, too.

Yes, that is entirely up to you. Of course you are free to
see registry editing as hackery.

You are also free to ignore this information about changing
the registry and it may indeed not be the right thing
for those not being familiar using regedit. That's
why I wrote in my post "if you are not afraid of using
regedit".

But some are not, like many who develop Software for Windows.

And it's not rocket science either.
