Our dev shop is very simple in our processes, having always used FTP and pushing our code to the server everytime we want to test a change (yes, laugh all you want, but at least now we're trying to improve). The problem seems to be in the resistance of the team to move to a setup where we dev on our local boxes, and track our code through a versioning system like Mercurial. They understand the benefits, but if you're not willing to dev local, how can you combine the benefits? Is there a way to use a versioning system and also have it FTP or SFTP your code up to the server at the same time? This is I guess a hybrid model but someone else must have wanted to do this at some point! Thanks for any thoughts or advice.
