If you're thinking about planning a POSSE of your own, tell the mailing
list
(http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/POSSE#Organize_your_own_POSSE)
so we can help you make a decision in the next month or two.

I know there are some other folks out there with interest coming down
the pipeline. If we get multiple POSSE planning batches underway, we
might just want to do one Summer POSSE Planning series of meetings
back-to-back in the interests of saving time.

We'll need to figure out some deadline soon for when Summer 2010 POSSEs
need to be announced by, so we have enough time to plan, because showing
up in August and saying "I'd like to have a POSSE in 2 weeks!" won't
work right now; these things currently take a couple months to get in
order. (It gets easier and faster each time, but we're still at this
stage of the program.)

I'm thinking about Feb 15 as the "yes, we will commit to doing this"
cutoff for Summer 2010 POSSEs, which I'm tentatively defining as POSSEs
that run between May 15 and September 30 of 2010. If folks want to run
one after that date, we'll worry about that later; if folks want to run
one before that date, we need to know RIGHT NOW.

Thoughts on those deadlines? If there are no objections, I'll take
silence as consent after the weekend (end of next Tuesday, to give
people at least one full weekday to read). I know it's the holidays
coming up, but I want to hit the ground running on this as soon as we
get back. (And if I remember my college days correctly, winter break was
time to catch up on research and reading and learning random things and
sleep and side projects in open source, anyway. ;)
