Hi All,

Mel invited me to join the mailing list and has asked me to introduce myself
now that I have joined the list.

I am in the second year of the doctoral program in Engineering Education at
Purdue University. Following my masters studies in Civil Engineering I ended
up in a faculty development position at KFUPM, Saudi Arabia. There I worked
for nine years on different projects related to faculty development. With my
background in engineering and experience of faculty development I am now in
the doctoral program of engineering education. Here I am engaged in the
research on institutional development and change with particular focus on
faculty development for change in engineering education.

I understand that teaching open source is yet another educational innovation
similar to several others which communities who are interested in an
innovation are exploring to bring them into mainstream and promote them for
a widespread adoption. This provides me another real context to study what
issues are involved in change for the adoption of an educational innovation.
I plan to stay tuned to this mailing list to learn about the stories and
possibly identify some new cases that will be interesting to study from the
perspective of institutional change and faculty development.

I am excited to be part of this community and would like to contribute with
ideas if it can help anyone in their efforts.

Thanks,
Junaid
