I also am a bit confused. This seemed like a regular submission through normal channels. I was under the impression we were going to go for a higher level of connection - perhaps a pre-event? Crazy keynote? So far I've opened the discussion with Red Hat's events people, but we need to tell them what we'd like to do, then a few of us can pursue with them and the SIGCCSE planners.
