Hi all,
I've finally got round to re-joining the list, and what can I say? I missed
it all over summer! Bloody exams! Anyway, I'm at Liverpool university now
but I'm sure you don't want to know about that :-).
Right. I went and bought both "Johnny The Horse" singles yesterday, and
they're great. I also bought both "Lovestruck" singles the other month as
well. I got all 4 from WH Smiths, and unlike some messages I've seen from
the list, I had no problem getting them. So like everyone else, I'll do my
quick review:
Johnny The Horse - a great Madness song, I can see them returning to their
old style of music (tinkly piano, etc). What I can say about this one's
been said, so I'll move on.
I Was The One - ditto. Organ-style music from Barso, we're getting back to
that style again. Great song.
Dreaming man - like everyone else, I can't figure out who's on vocals.
Backing vox are clear enough - Suggs and Carl. But who is doing the lead
vocals? Could be Lee, but in some ways it doesn't sound like him. Maybe one
of the others are trying their share at vocals for a change.
You're Wonderful - wonderful, so wonderful. Should be a single in its own
right. But why leave it off the album? Isn't the album called You're
Wonderful? Maybe they'll change their mind. But with only 4 days to
release, maybe not. Ah well.
And of course, Lovestruck and Round & Round. Great songs, Round & Round is
easy to read into. "we do our little dance for the mortgage men" - are they
making music again for the money? "round and round we go again, in and out
the charts..." - we all know what this means!
I'll get back to my usual messages now, asking questions. Here we go:
1. What will be on the new album, and is it likely to be put back again
before it is released?
2. Any news on Madstock 4 vid/album? It was still undecided when I left the
list early this year.
3. Are any old songs like "The Prince" going to be re-released?
4. Oh, and "Perfect Place". It had a mention on the old (original) Madness
website, and someone
mentioned it would be on a future album/single because it meant a lot to
the lads.
