POP CD OF THE WEEK

Madness fans will already have tickets for the group`s annual
pre-christmas reunion pinned to their kichen memo boards.
With news of this albuums release , hearts will sink at the prospect of
new material getting in the way of those classic hits from the 1980`s.
Fear not! there are at least half-a-dozen tracks here thet walk tall
alongside Baggy Trousers, our house, Michael caine Et al.
All of the elements are in place--- The exuberant pop and ska beats,
Mike Barson`s glorious baroque keyboard runs, the fair ground noises,
cracking choruses and sheer exuberance. Among the best songs are the two
singels taken from the album, Lovestruck and Johnny the Horse.
But it`s not all jaunty silliness. When Madness last recorded together
15 years ago, their music was develping a wistful careworn streak and
tracks such as the reflective Elysium and 4am pick up where they left
off. Only one track If i didn`t care doesn`t hit the mark ` Otherwise
this is Total Madness.
