Dear All
Well, I haven't posted for a week or so as I've been away from my
PC but I have been nurturing my Madness addiction as usual. I
won't say too much about 'Wonderful' (Vince (and others) - great
review) as its left me pretty much speechless anyway. I think its
superb and is more than we could have possibly have hoped for.
My favourites are 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning' (God, I love
that song!), 'Drip Fed Fred' and the mighty 'The Communicator'. I
never thought I'd walk in to a shop again and buy a new Madness
album but its has finally happened, woo-hoo!
Secondly, I want to give an enormous pat on the back to Monsieur
Iain Mason for his beautifully eloquent summing up of the current
situation, he certainly spoke for me and I'm sure most of you on
the list. At the end of the day, if we cared what other people think
we wouldn't be here now and nor would Madness.
I thought the 'Later...' appearance was an unexpected bonus, most
bands are lucky to play a couple of tracks, even the big stars, but
to get four (including one with Ian Dury - another delightful surprise)
and an interview was marvellous. Big thanks to Jools Holland who
I'm sure swung this, and got the extra time to allow the
performance of 'Johnny The Horse'. Lets hope the performance of
'Money, Money, Money' on Saturday is also as entertaining.
Shame about 'The Lot' being put back, but I think my bank
manager is probably quite relieved, I was about to post that the
advert in the latest edition of 'Q' Magazine (which I should add has
a short review, 3 out of 5, and a band photo) said 8th November,
until Pete Gardner confirmed the 22nd. Sounds like it will be the
usual hopeful outing to the record shops on Monday for us all.
Looking forward to the gigs even more now, I'll hopefully see some
of you in Birmingham and London (22nd) and maybe 23rd (things
seem to be going pear-shaped for this one - anyone help me out
with some spare tickets? Pretty please).
Stay Nutty
Rich
