In Holland's only interesting music magazine I found a little review of
Wonderful (don't mind the grammar, it's not that easy to translate an
article into English)
"America is still surfing on the big waves of the latest ska revival and
therefor British Madness decided to make yet another comeback. With
Wonderful they continue where they stopped in the mid-Eighties. That is:
catchy British pop music with Vaudeville influences (whatever that maybe)
where ska plays only a minor role. Everything is packed together in a fat
production typical for Clive langer and Alan Winstanley.
In the early eighties Madness scored one nutty top-song after the other and
today we can ad Lovestruck and The Wizard to this list (don't they mean
JTH?) Madness has always been a typical singles group and this album proves
this fact again. The rest of the album consists of little less catchy
variations on the theme and even the guest role of there great inspiration,
Ian Dury, doesn't change that."
All the best,
HJ
