Hello all you Maddies out there,
To try and cheer ourselves up, we can bathe in the glory of the number of
appearances by the mighty Madness on a new series of NOW albums released.
For the Millennium, VIrgin/EMI have released a new series of Now That's
What I Call Music double CDs, each covering a year from 1980 (I think
that's the earliest one) right through to 1999. I couldn't find absolutely
every relevant one but it seemed that Madness were on loads of them. Some
of you may remember a similar series of these came out about 7 years ago,
but these aren't re-issues of them. They are different, although many of
the same tracks appear. From the ones I saw, Madness were on 1980 with
"Embarrassment", 1983 with "Our House", 1984 with "Michael Caine", 1992
with "It Must Be Love", and perhaps most significantly, to be the only band
spanning the series, they are on 1999 with the mighty "Lovestruck"!!!
I couldn't find 1981 or 1982 but would bet plenty money that Madness are on
them. They weren't on 1986 but I couldn't find 1985 to see if they were on
there. So they're on at least 5 but probably 7 of the 20 albums. Testament
to the quality of the greatest band on earth!
Cheers for now,
Peter
