On this list we have now had:

*** people who didn't like the whole Wonderful album
months before it was even released;

*** people who disliked Lovestruck and JTH unto
themselves as songs and then argued what big mistakes
each was to be released as a single (a mistake in the
case of Lovestruck's top-10 placing and a debatable
point with JTH's non-publicity);

*** people claiming that it was obvious that The
Wizard/Saturday Night Sunday Morning/Elysium/No Money
had to be the next single for reasons which are so
clear to them but none of the rest of us fools;

*** and now DFF also being attacked as a choice for a
single. I haven't seen anyone claim not to like DFF
as a song though I'm sure such a person will soon post
(and is welcome to, of course). Is it going to be Top
10 in England? Probably not, but it could be a fun
Christmas season song over there with some chart
success, whatever it may be. Ian Dury hasn't exactly
been burning up the charts either, so teaming his and
Madness' fans will probably not make a huge
difference. I dare say many Ian Dury fans are of an
age that doesn't buy many singles. With his fight
against cancer, I believe he has made himself a more
publicly visible and sympathetic figure, so that may
work in the favor of DFF's success. Maybe Madness
feel they are thanking him for his inspiration by
putting the song on which he collaborated out for the
public at large to appreciate. Also, maybe all or
part of the proceeds will go to cancer research.

I think we should all just lighten up, relax and enjoy
the album already.

Jeff
