Hiya madsters !
I'd just like to comment on the elysium/drip fed fred discussion; firstly I think that it is absolutely brilliant news about elysium being the next single, this is a madness masterpiece & it has just overtaken embarrassment & disappear as my favourite madness song. On the maddley it was, for me, the bit that stood out & the more I listen to the album, this song just grows & grows & I think that it has the potential to be a massive hit, if promoted properly.
On the other hand i'm not so sure about drip fed fred being the other choice as double A side. I honestly don't see what all the fuss about this song is, don't get me wrong, I do like the song but I don't think it is good enough to be a single, especially if we want it to be a hit - I don't think the general public will take to it & I think I may have some proof;  The other day I was giving a workmate a lift & was playing a cassette consisting of Wonderful, the rest of the new songs on the singles & some of Sugg's solo stuff from the three pyramids club, on the way home he told me that he had been singing madness songs all day & I said I know, they are infectious aren't they ? & he agreed but he said that there was one song "did his head in", I asked which one & he said "the one  that goes - we want freddie for our leader" - I rest my case !
OK so the Ian Dury & novelty factors may help (and I truly hope they do) but I think that a "catchier" song such as saturday night/sunday morning or the wizard would be a better choice, but then again I'm also not too struck on B&B man (a "live" favourite) & house of fun ( the only No 1) !  - so hopefully It's just me !!!
Finally to all going to the newcastle madmeet; "in geordie town i'll meet you by the underground !" - see ye doon there !
