Hiya mad ones,
re-the christmas totp appearance from 1982, it brings back memories, I
remember way back then....etc...etc...I taped it the first time round & i've
still got It along with other tv apps. around that time. I remember Suggs
looked cool all dressed in black with his longer than usual hair & Chas had
an extremely hairy face, which I didn't like at the time, I can remember
thinking "I hope he shaves it off for the concert", (I was going to see
them for the first time at Edinbugh Playhouse the following March) And guess
what ? He did !.....ahh those memories.....(ok, so I'm showing my age, but
it was great to be there the first time round !)....i've just watched a bit
of that video & i've just watched Suggs, Chas & Lee on breakfast tv from
1985 doing some martial arts session ...what was that about ? & also the
hilarious line from The Young Ones (our house) when Neil (with a bad cold &
dose of the sneezes) says "oh wow, I hope mike hurries back with the cure" &
Vivien replies "no Neil, it's Madness this week ! (brilliant) & I finally I
must tell you about this; I've just watched a bit from a programme that was
on in Scotland at the weekends circa.1982/1983, called Datarun. It starts
with an interview with Suggs & Mark (with full head of hair !) & ends with a
hilarious clip from "Holts" shoe shop. The whole band burst into the shop
singing "you need shoes to get to where you're going...(a la "you need
hands") then they get into a bit of banter with the owner at the time &
start trying shoes on, next Chas turns round & wearing one cherry red doc &
one black boot, he says (in an Irish accent); "I'd like to show you my
shoes, I bought these boots today, I came in for a bag of fish & chips, I
said I'd like 20 embassy & a bag of chips please & he said "you're Irish" &
I said "how d'you know that" & he said "this is a shoe shop" !!! (typical
Chas humour eh !) & it ends with Suggs wearing the opposite boots from Chas'
& he says "i'd like to show you my shoes, they're different colours, cos I
like different colours" & then they all start dancing about the shop to "The
return of the Los Palmas 7" wearing the most ridiculous of shoes & (clogs,
spaceboots etc). Top stuff.....anyway i'm hooked now, i'm off to watch some
more....bye the noo, Rob W.
...being here again I can recall, forgotten moments...the rise & fall....
