I can't believe I'm saying this but the Spice Girls are getting the
lifetime achievement award according to Teletext p451 and Freeserve.
This is what it says on Teletext:

The Spice Girls will be handed a lifetime achievement award at the
Brits, the group's management has confirmed

But the four members are unable to say whether former singer Geri
Halliwell will join them to receive the honour.

Both the Spice Girls and Geri will be performing at the ceremony in
London on March 3. The girls were said to be "honoured and thrilled"
by the award.

Sorry but please someone explain to me how a group that has been
going since only 1996 and made only 2 albums constitutes a LIFETIME
achievement. I think this reflects the sorry state of the British
music industry at the moment. I would accept Madness not getting the
award if it was going to an established act who had least made a
worthy contribution to the industry over the years but the Spice
Girls? This is not a honour, it's an outrage.
