Hi nutters, An interesting thing happened to me today....... Being an over-enthusiastic supporter of all things concerned with Madness, I, Like many of you, have �Vote For Fred� banners still standing three months after the campaign started rolling. I have them on my fridge, my windows and in my workplace to this day. My company of employment has recently undergone some changes in it�s I.T. structure and as a result I have a new manager. On visiting me today to talk through various plans and concerns, he noticed one of these said posters on the partition of my desk. �Vote For Fred� emblazoned in large, bold letters, resplendent for all to see. Now as some you may know, I work for Standard Life Assurance Company, and as many of you may also know, we are currently under pressure from certain �carpetbaggers� (an industry term for those actively pursuing Mutual status life companies to convert to a PLC resulting in huge windfalls for it�s policyholders). Has the penny dropped yet? No? Well the man who has appeared in almost every local and national newspaper, radio station and relevant TV programme is called �Fred Woollard�. We have started a huge campaign in Edinburgh, Scotland and the United Kingdom, proclaiming that Standard Life should stay Mutual, and that Fred is in fact a very bad and greedy man. And there�s me, sitting with �Vote For Fred� on my desk the very day I meet my new boss. Imagine my horror when he manager says to me �What the f**k is that on your desk!!� I shall be updating my C.V. this very evening.
