I work as an event steward doing things such as pop
concerts and football matches. FA Cup Final Day, our
company took 15 stewards up to Wembley, some of us
would be required to work the Cup Final and the rest
of us were going to do the Arena that night for the
concert 'The Best Disco in Town'.
Realising that Chelsea was playing and that Suggs was
likely to be there I wanted to work the final, I got
put on the Arena.
So the rest of us spent the Cup Final sitting in the
stadium car park for 6 hours waiting to get into the
Arena doing nothing and getting very bored at the same
time. To add to this we didn't get paid at all for
this hanging around time. We couldn't even listen to
the match as the radio in the minibus didn't work. As
you can tell we weren't in the best of moods after
this.
We eventually got into the Arena, got told what to do
and I got put on the gates conducting searches. I got
sent for a short break halfway through and made my way
to the staff restaurant and sat down. Looked straight
in front of me I saw a Vote For Fred poster on the
wall {which was the only poster} like the ones given
out at the Arena last December. It cheered me up no
end to see it and that it was there 6 months after the
Madness concert.
