Cathal in control I'm sure it will be brilliant, and also I'm very keen on
his method of recording it, as I did think Wonderful sounded a little bit
too polished at times (sorry) but I am worried whether this means Madness
will be on a backburner. So come on everybody! What do we all think?
Yep, everyone who has relinquished their soul to VelvetGhost.com should
have received the e-mail. And for those who haven't, do it NOW! I think
it's brilliant that he's going to record the album live and on analogue
equipment. He should go the whole hog and release it on vinyl only too;-)
He has the right attitude and the songs to go with it. It'll be an amazing
album. Mr. Smash himself said that Wonderful suffered because they hadn't
been out playing the songs live for a while beforehand, like they used to
do. I definitely felt that many of the songs sounded better live than they
did on the CD. And Wonderful sounds quite dull (sound-wise) when compared
to the digitally remastered old albums. A bit of sparkle in the production
is missing.
As for the huge activity on the Ghost front meaning Madness put on the
backburner, it's the old story of what came first. The chicken or the egg?
It's the lack of activity on the Madness front which has made the energetic
and creative Mr. Smash get off his backside and become the Ghost. So we
should all be grateful that he's doing this. I know I am. And his
enthusiasm for the project is really giving me a buzz that I felt wasn't
quite there for the release of Wonderful last year.
