After spending a week in sunny London and coming to terms with just how much
i spent, i can now relay the days events from my perspective.
It all started early on Friday 9th, Mr.G and myself had arranged a pre-meet
meet in Glasgow, with a few items to be bought and thoughts about the
impending day of nuttieness abound. While in The Candy Bar, as Colin says in
his write up, the owner puts on Divine2000..round about the same time that
two lads stand next to us at the bar. The bigman never recognised them as
they moved over to a table, i instantly recognised them as the best
midfielder in Britain, Barry Ferguson, and-had drink not got in his way-
Scotlands own Gascoigne, Mr.Charlie Miller. Imagine my delight as two of my
footballing heros from Glasgow Rangers stood whistling along to One Step
Beyond. That set the tone for the week ahead. Mr.G suddenly came up with the
idea that at 4am, we turn up at the Airport in full Nutty gear, suits hats
shades etc...so we did!
The flight down was quiet, with the bigman telling us what he can tell from
peoples eyes.
After getting there and meeting with Sigal and her sis we met with Steve and
Lara, the two most nicest people in all the land. :o) Unfortunaltely they
couldnt make the gig, so they headed off home with our bags as we made our
treck to Finsbury.
The first ones at the pub, as usual, and it wasnt even open....then along
came Emma V, as chirpy as ever and still giving me banter about the meet in
O'Neills Newcastle last year. I still stick by my original statement mate,
just for the record!
As the pub opens the madfolk start arriving, The three Irish chaps who made
it over, Vince F was in fine form as usual! No need to tell you what went on
in the pub, you all know the drill!
Into the park we ventured and easily made it to the front. My god was Carls
intro amazing. For me, it was the best start to any concert i had ever seen.
With carl strolling through the crowd with Sean McGloin on Bagpipes behind,
his smile was as wide as the Clyde..as was mine!
The songs themselves were a work of art, We Are love totally different from
the B-Side version which i was not a fan of at all- i found myself getting
really into it live..JTH with its extra lyrics blew me away. and quite
quickly the crowd were too. The new songs that were premiered were sheer
class...more gigs have got to be played- get yourselves to them!! If the
band did that intro up north, i know that a Scots crowd would go mental, and
it would be for sure one of the best gigs and most well recieved gig
Scotland has eevr seen.
After the gig, i had the pleasure of chatting to Sean McGloin and then a few
words of support and praise to one of the best trumpeters around Jason
McDermaid.
After a laze around in the sun, it was off to the Dublin Castle..and the
nights events quickly blurred as friendly faces old and new joined in the
banter and the bevvy.

A classic day to remember, big Thanks to all those who made it great...The
Bigman, Dave, Sigal and sis, Emma Vine, Vince F who was indeed Langers,
Vince C cheeky chappy, Michael farmer, Sio, Suggsylia, plus Mr.Gs old school
mate Ed and wife- who it turns out used to work almost next door to me!
small world eh? And of course Adele who did so well, a truely grand job, and
Especially The Velvet Ghost themselves, for a great show- one of the best
lads! But most of all, Steve and Lara for their kindess and hospitality :o)

Stoo
