Seeing all these addresses listed got me thinking. What are the legal
ramifications of using a band name as a website address without their
permission??? This came up in Scotland recently when I heard that both
Rangers and Celtic football clubs had copyrighted all the players' names to
prevent unofficial sites using them in addresses, and were taking aaction
against any sites which did. Like what would have happened if a fan had got
the rights to the domain name "www.madness.co.uk"??? Could Madness have
sued to get it for themselves when they got round to setting up a website?
Hasn't there been cases of this already? Companies or towns having to sue
folk who got the domain name with the name of the company or town in it?
Does anyone know about this side of things? It's been a day of pondering
for me;-)
Cheers,
Peter
