Bloody heck, that's a bit stiff (no pun intended)...I am lucky to have done
a paper round in my formative years and as a result managed to buy all the
releases (all versions) when they came out. I even managed to get hold of
odd promos or foreign releases from all sorts of places...one of my sources
was a record stall in the Apple Market in Kingston upon Thames, does anyone
know of it, mind you it's long since gone. I once made a couple of
pilgrimages many moons ago, one was to Camden Town, via the Liquidator
Studios on the Caledonian Road.....just a black door as I recall and no sign
of anyone, once a workshy fop always a workshy fop if you ask me, not that
you did!
Anyway once in Camden I visited Stiff City, the old record label
base....only to be informed that they had just shipped up and off to new
offices at Island records in Chiswick, however while there I saw props from
the Sun and Rain vid lying around (large finger and ear), I should have
asked if they wanted rid of them, Doh! One cheeky bloke tried to sell me the
copy of the Yellow Pages he had on the desk, as it was signed by various
members of the band!
The second pilgrimage was to St Peter's Square, home to Island and by this
point Stiff....I was allowed through to the (somewhat makeshift) Stiff
offices and met Dave Robinson, who sold me various items and gave me some
promo stuff...so he's not all bad!
Amongst the purchases were, the Spanish (with intro voiced in Spanish by
Carl) Return of the Los Palmas 7 single and a couple of white labels. One
last thing when I think of it, having this Spanish 7" of Los P was good as i
already had the Spanish 7" of Un Paso Adelante and they kind of go together
nicely.

One question for everyone, what are the most expensive and cheapest Madness
records you have bought?
I recently paid 20 odd quid for the promo of Lovestruck complete with folder
and notes...I think that's the most I've spent in a single transaction,
aside from the boxsets!

Come to think of it, I do believe you are right. I was gonna buy it
once but the bloke wanted 25!
