Well Maddies....going onto the Day(s) I met Lee & Chrissy Boy.

Sometime in 1991.We went to see the Nutty Boys at a gig at the Powerhouse in
London, and being a student with a project on SKA to compile, I tool along a
tape recorder (reel to reel job). When me and my mate Erin arrived at the
venue, we found Lee and Chris in the Bar at the end of their sound check. I
asked them if I could have a few minutes of their time for an interview.
Chris said it was really to loud for an interview at the venue, Lee
suggested he take us to a different pub. So we went outside, and the four of
us clambered into Lee's Volvo Estate (old beaten up version - Lee " sorry
about the I love pony stickkers, they're my daughters" Chris "Yeah Right, he
doesn't even have a daughter").

We got to the pub (can't remeber the name) and spent half an hour chatting
to them both, they bought us drinks, we offered to buy them drinks back, but
they refused. The interview went really well, or so I thought, and included
Chrissy Boy saying there was more chance of a beatles reformation than
Madness ever playing again. And Lee saying he thought Utter Madness (the
Album) was crap, as he had wanted to release a double sided album, that had
b-sides and extra bits on it, to offer the fans somthing new/different, and
they wer both happy about the "it's madness" compilations. Both guys were
top blokes, and very funny, chatty and seemed geniunly interested. We told
them we were in a ska band (the Skanxters) that did a couple of madness
covers. They said we were the first band they had met that included a
version of Dissapear in our set!

We left for the gig, and continued chatting on the way back. When we got to
the venue, they said "see you later"

We went somewhere quietish, and tried to listen to the interview, but it
hadn't come out properly ( whoever had used the tape last had wound it on
the wrong way, so everything was a silent muffle. I was gutted. I went to
find Lee and chris. Lee laughed when we told him, and said" well, you had
the bite of the cherry, but spat it out!"

Chrissy bought us another drink to quell our dissapointment.

January 1992 .It must have been about 8 months later, when The Skanxters
supported the Nutty Boys at the After Dark Club in Reading. We turned up to
the sound check. Lee saw us, and said " I know you don't I" I told them we
had seen them before, but was dead embarrased due to the Interview cock up
thing, so I didn't mention it.

Again in the dressing room, they were very chatty, and just before we went
on stage, Lee shouted " I remember now, you're the prat who cocked up the
interview!" Very red and embarrased, I admitted it was me, and crawled onto
stage.

Great Gig though, great evening had by all with Lee swinging on the lighting
rig, and the venue manager having to ask him to come down!

The last time I saw Lee and Chris, was in 1994 they came to watch us when we
played Gossips in Soho. Lots of people had been their that night, including
Shane Macgowen of the Pouges, Jerry Dammers Brother. By this time we were
doing all originals, and were selling our 12" single. After the Gig a very
Drunk Chris told us we were great, and could he have a frisbee. We gave
Chris and Lee each a copy of the 12", and True to his word, Chris used it as
a frisbee as he staggered along the road throwing the record and picking it
up again. Lee said he would be playing his properly when he got home!
