That was Tad!!
The DC hasn't changed too much- The new floor is the striking feature- those
fake floorboard panel things! Very bright and clinical.
Also new seats and tables (in the same design of the original 70s idea!) not
red
anymore but green with a funny pattern on it.
Not many casualties- telly is one I think - there are double doors where it
once used to be, and the pews to the left of it have disappeared (some fire
regulation) so less room to sit. More room to stand though- no tables to the
left .(!)
Walls painted a funny pinkish red (I think) - only 3 surviving pictures
left - you guessed! The Madness ones!
The juke box was out of commission for some reason or another....
The roof is still the same... the circa 1965 red chanderliers still in
service... maybe they have put in new light bulbs? who knows?
Swanny informs me that the back room is still the same.
Nice to see some new faces- and get my arsed kicked about the crunch gig I
missed!
I was talking to Saint Scatty about the convention next year..
some good ideas floating about.
Send your input to Scatty!
Stuart Wright turned up - Nut incs all around!
The current issue is a tribute to Ian Dury special.
Stuart was nattering to Swanny and Lee (confusing I know) Thommo was telling
stuart a story about 'the old days' .. sure we'll read all about this in the
next issue!
I remember swanny saying 'I hope you're taking all this in!' Yes I did, and
I
cant print a word of it without being sued for liable or something!
Lee was talking about a upcoming Madness documentary on BBC1- NOT to be
confused with young guns- apparently Lee 'spills the beans' in this one, and
is a tad (pun!) bit nervous when it airs as he'll get in the neck or
something!!- He's done a few interviews so he's not sure if it will be in
Young Guns or the upcoming documentary... Lee says check the Radio Times
etc.. cos he doesn't know when its on.
Also a mad-meet is not complete without some arse spilling beer everywhere-
this honour falls to Lee J.Thompson- 'Rosie! The cloth please'.. maybe
others where split later I dont know! - most of the gang where outside in
the new plastic DC 'Beer Garden'- last seen on the intro of the 'My Girl' I
think.
Maybe the first spilt drink in the refurbed DC? and surely not the
last.......
