I was wondering why no-one had mentioned this. Madness doing "Baggy
Trousers" in the TOTP studio was the first of Robbie's personal picks from
his life of music. It was great to see. And while that comment was a bit
cheeky, it just set the tone for the whole "interview" between Robbie and
the dippy interviewer (played also by Robbie). That comment was the first
of many to irritate Robbie and resulted in him just turning to the
"interviewer" and saying "Arse!!!" while pointing at him. I thought it was
all rather entertaining, although any cred from seeing Madness there was
almost lost when his next pick was Tight Fit!!!;-)
While I'm here, has anyone noticed the rather superb Specials collection
just released in Britain? It's a triple CD set called "Stereo-typical: A's,
B's & Rarities" and features every track they ever had on a 7" or 12"
single, plus a few extras (but only from the 2 Tone days, not including
"Hypocrite" or "Pressure Drop"). It is sheer class with a class sleeve and
notes. There are a couple of dodgy remixes/rerecodings of Nelson Mandela
and Ghost Town (Ghost Dub '91) though! Just thought it was worth a mention.
