Dear List Members.... ten out of ten for effort to Scatty for some stirling work in trying to get across what I said at the intro to Mr Speaker...... Humble thyself and ye shall be exalted, this is a biblical quote. there are two bits of poems quoted... one is Horatius from the Lays of Ancient Rome which begins " Lars Porsena of Clusium, By the nine Gods he swore.....etc The second is from The Charge of The Light Brigade by Tennyson which begins " Half a leauge Halfa leauge half a league onwards into the valley of Death rode the....etc The song Mr Speaker (which the lyrics were by Suggs) reminded me of my Uncle Sean and most of what I said was in his style or rather manner of speaking.. He was a real charachter who was thought of fondly by the band as my Uncle had a habit of turning up unexpectedly when we appeared in Ireland...with the welcoming shout of Whato my cocker! He was also fond of quoting Miltons Ode to Blindness which I used as the opening line in Time.....When I consider how my life is spent....the original is when I consider how my LIGHT is spent. Ah the joys of literature.......my Uncle Sean died a few years back and the likes of him are rarely seen. He never could stand a philistine. you have all the senses(members)of your body : use them wisely.
