All this Steps bashing reminds me that the other day I saw a Steps tribute band advertsised. They were called (wait for it) Steps Beyond. Personally speaking I don't blame the bands for the state of music, they're just the puppets. Someone else pointed a finger toward Stock Aitken and Waterman, and I too recall how horrified I was at how the scene was deteriorating. I remember also back around 1986 when a workmate said how fantastic 5 Star were. "How many bands have their own choreographer?" he asked proudly. Lot of good that is on their records I thought. Madness were/are a fun band who never took it too seriously, but still knocked out classic after classic. Todays upstarts should get over their own egos a bit.
