The Muscat has spoken, and I must apologise for not delivering the goods on
schedule!

My last posting detailed how the points for the Madchart were allocated, so
I'll dive straight into the chart with the first of the 106 songs in the
chart. (I'll explain the numbers after the first song)

103= (1) {1} <0> Thunder And Lightning  [89=] [DNC]

Sharing 103rd place in the chart is this Suggs/Chris song from the album
'The Madness'. Scoring 1 point less than it did in the last chart, at least
it made it back!

Now to explain the numbers! Obviously, 103= indicates equal 103rd place in
the chart. (1) is the number of points earned within the top 10's; 1 point
for No. 10, etc. {1} is the number of people who voted for the song. <0> is
for the number of No. 1 rankings it received. The numbers after the song
title are [89=] indicating that it was joint 89th in the last madchart, and
[DNC] indicating that it Did Not Chart in the first ever Madchart. You will
also see [NEW] indicating it is a song which was not around when the last
chart was compiled.

And on we go.....

103= (1) {1} <0> The Young And The Old  [89=] [39=]

Taken from the Work, Rest and Play EP, this song was written by Suggs and
Mike. Credit should be given for appearing in all three charts to date,
albeit in a low position.

103= (1) {1} <0> New Delhi  [57=] [DNC]

Taken from The Rise and Fall album and written by Mike. A drop of 45 places
since last time, but still only one person voted for it!

103= (1) {1} <0> Chipmunks Are Go  [68=] [DNC]

The closing track from the One Step Beyond album scrapes into our chart.
Written by Chas and his brother (Brendan, I think?). The only acappella song
to make it here.

102 (2) {1} <0> Calling Cards  [29] [49=]

In 102nd place in its own right comes the second track from TRAF to feature
on our chart. Quite a drop from last time when it was voted into the top 30
. Written by the Crunch boys Lee and Chris.

100= (2) {2} <0> Stepping Into Line  [28] [26=]

In joint 100th position is the b-side from the original UK release of My
Girl. Strangely, it finished immediately above Calling Cards last time out
too! Written by Suggs and Bedders.

100= (2) {2} <0> Walking With Mr Wheeze  [57=] [DNC]

Penned by Mike as the b-side for Our House, this track is best listened to
through headphones to get the full effect!

98= (3) {1} <0> Missing You  [22] [55=]

The first track in the this chart from the album Seven. The Suggs/Barso
track has dropped 76 places, the biggest drop of any song.

98= (3) {1} <0> Overdone  [68=] [55=]

Taken from Absolutely, this is another Lee/Chris composition. At 3' 45" it's
the longest track on the album!

97 (3) {3} <0> Time For Tea  [63=] [DNC]

The first Keep Moving track to grace our chart and another Lee/Chris song.
Three people (including me) saw fit to include this one in our top 10's.

93= (4) {1} <0> Tears You Can't Hide  [35=] [DNC]

A fall of 58 places for this Chas Smash song from the Mad Not Mad album. One
of four songs sharing 93rd place.

93= (4) {1} <0> Mummy's Boy  [79=] [DNC]

Taken from OSB, this was the first song written by Bedders to appear on
vinyl.

93= (4) {1} <0> Riding On My Bike  [68=] [20]

Taken from the 12" Single of Driving In My Car, this spoof of the a-side was
sung by Lee, who co-wrote it with Chris. It made the Top 20 in our first
chart, even though DIMC failed to get a single vote! I've also realised that
I failed to acknowledge its presence in the last chart at No. 68. Sorry :-)

93= (4) {1} <0> Be Good Boy  [DNC] [DNC]

The first new entry into our chart comes with yet another Lee/Chris
composition. Be Good Boy featured on the 'The Madness' album.

92 (4) {2} <0> Going To the Top  [NEW] [-]

The first of the new tracks to make it onto our chart. Going to the top was
written by Mike Barson for the album 'Wonderful'. You can rest assured that
this won't be the last track in this chart marked '[NEW]'!!

91 (5) {1} <0> I Pronounce You  [DNC] [DNC]

Another first time appearance for a track by The Madness. This was the only
The Madness song to make the UK charts, reaching No. 44 in March 1988. My
copy of the album has the writing credit for this song down as
Thomson/Smyth/West. I assume that Smyth is Chas, and Thomson is Lee (even if
it is misspelt without the P), but I'm not sure about West. Perhaps someone
out there can confirm.

So that's it for tonight. The next run down will see us enter the Top 90.
Incredibly, we've already had tracks from all eight studio albums (incl. The
Madness) and a number of b-sides.

Until the next time.....

Goodnight.

Andrew.
