After a hectic weekend, I'm back to count us down to the outskirts of the
Top 10! While most of the UK are in bed and the US are watching the
Superbowl, I'm sure there's someone out there taking notice!

15 (89) {16} <3> Michael Caine [12] [4]

No. 4 first time out, but continuing it's slide to No. 15 this time,
although it did receive top marks from three people. This should really be
renamed Sir Michael Caine, as the great man has received a knighthood since
it's last appearance in our chart. Written by Chas and Woody, it was the
first single release from Keep Moving. It reached No. 11 in the UK charts in
1984.

14 (90) {19} <0> (Waiting For) The Ghost Train [24] [32=]

The highest ever placing in the Madchart, and the highest placing for a song
not to receive a No. 1 vote from anyone. Written by Suggs, this was Madness'
farewell track back in 1986, and climbed to No. 18 in the UK charts. At the
time, many of us must have thought this would be the last original material
we would ever see from Madness, but how wrong could we be?

13 (90) {14} <2> Disappear [8] [23=]

I'm obviously not the only one who loves this song. I'm sure many of you
know it's my personal favourite, and last time it made the Top 10. It wasn't
to be this time, but it's still the highest placed song on our chart not to
be released as a single. This one was written by Suggs and Woody and
appeared on Absolutely. Hopefully, if Madness ever decide to play live
again, this one will be included in the set again! After all, for the second
chart running, it is the fan's favourite non-single!!

12 (96) {15} <3> One Better Day [19] [11=]

A climb back up the charts of seven places for this track from Keep Moving.
Most sources have the writing credits for this one down as Suggs and Bedders
although the picture disc of Keep Moving has it down as Suggs and Chris.
This was Madness' 19th single and reached No. 17 in the charts. As I
mentioned before, the artwork for the single was originally intended for
Victoria Gardens.

11 (109) {21} <2> My Girl [10] [49=]

Dropping just one place and failing to make the Top 10 this time is Madness'
third single. Written by Mike Barson, it reached No. 3 in the UK chart.
Taken from the album One Step Beyond, it was the first Madness single to be
successfully covered, when Tracey Ullman took it to No. 23 in 1984 (although
she changed the title to 'My Guy's Mad at Me')

Next time we start counting down the Top 10. There's been a lot of movement
in the Top 10 since last time, and we also have two new entries. I hope
you're looking forward to it as much as I am.

Goodnight.

Andrew.
