"...John Wayne done his belts up..."
Hmmmmm now I may be TOTALLY wrong but I do believe (or thought) that the
correct lyrics are "...and if John Wayne dummies bounce off..." But apart
from all that, it IS from 'Blue Skinned Beast' (my wife's all-time fave
Madness song, along with 'Johnny the Horse' and 'You're Wonderful').
However, you're ALL missing the 'obvious' reference to either Margaret
Thatcher (then UK Prime Minister) and her Government or The Queen herself in
said 'Blue Skinned Beast', which was about the Falklands debacle, wasn't it?
(I forgot what Lee said once in an interview at the time, but it WAS an
unveiled and totally unsubtle attempt by the band to voice their as yet
untapped political views... I DO remember Lee saying "...you can't keep
writing songs like 'Benny Bullfrog' for ever..."). As for the Gaz Numan song
'Cars' being sung by Madness... that IS weird since my best friend's fave
artist is indeed Mr Numan and we used to have a laugh singing "I like
driving... here in my car", a silly medley of 'Driving In My Car' and
'Cars'. Now I'll get off my soapbox ~ Tennessee Paul
