Hi everyone. Paul - I definitely saw Chris there and looking well talking to Mo Mowlam. Missed Mike though.
For those who missed the show the first treat was Suggs telling Jools of how the band picked My Old Man for the tribute album. Then showing that he was a Madness fan Jools asked if there was new stuff from Madness planned and that when there was they must come back to the studio. Suggs replied there was nothing in the pipeline but that teasingly "you never know."
Then Suggs, Carl and the Blockheads sang a version of My Old Man in the style of the original. Following this a finale was played of The Blockheads' Sex and Drugs and Rock n' Roll. Again joined by Suggs, Carl and this time Jools. Carl was more noticeable in this number than My Old Man.
Yes, it was great to see others from the band turn out when not needing to - showing that the friendship is still very much alive - good to see. Also I think Suugs was the only person actually interviewed in any way on the whole show. For all Blockheads fans there is an interviewonline at the Later with Jools Holland website on the BBC page it's www.bbc.co.uk/later/index.shtml - I think.
Alan.
