Hmmm I may sound like the devil's advocate on this one, but oh well :) In my
experience, when people in general are upset about something, more times
than not it's about something which is TRUE rather than fabricated or
whatever! Let's be honest here now shall we, girls and boys, but our lads
have ALWAYS been portrayed as happy-go-lucky, not a care in the world cheery
boys out for fun! Don't these people have problems like everyone else? I
understand that they may want to keep a certain image or memory intact, but
I for one have ALWAYS wanted to know more about their private lives... not
just what makes them tick and about what inspired them to write certain
songs, but more stuff like, dare I say it, have they ever done drugs? Nights
out boozing? Arrests? etc etc etc Our lads are seven human beings with
natural flaws like everybody else and sometimes I DO wish that the whole
picture was drwn. I think it's only fair for us the fans to know umm
EVERYTHING about them! Can anyone seriously and honestly say that they know
about the lads' private lives inside out? I'm talking kinda like we know
about Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, The Doors, Hendrix, Bob Marley et al!
The boys have always been given to us as these Disney- like cartoon
characters who are just ahh naughty! Even when in their biographies we read
that they were in trouble with the law and stuff, it's still presented in a
nonchalant almost surreal approach! I DO hope that I won't be shot down by
any of you or anything, it's just that the handful of articles/interviews I
read by Thrills were pretty interesting and insightful (I read one I think
by him during The Madness 1988 era which was the first I had ever known of
internal friction and possible factions and divisions between band members,
and I really thought this book would finally quench my thirst for this
feeling I always had... that we don't REALLY know our lads that much! And in
THAT respect, I am DEEPLY disappointed at the book's no-show, but that's
just MY opinion. I respect the band's right to not let certain details
surface for all to see! ~ Tennessee Paul
