Folks,
I know I'm not the first but I'd just like to add my thanks to Chris and Cheryl for
organising such a fantatsic weekend. As the 80-plus that attended have testified, it
was a brilliant achievement, the ultimate Madmeet - and for those who missed out, sign
up NOW for the next one, you won't regret it!
After putting the tennis racquet and alka seltzer are back in the drawer, I'm now
planning to put together a special bumper Blackpool commemorative edition of the News
of the World, but I NEED YOUR HELP.
What's planned is a 12- or 16-page colour newspaper, packed with photos and stories of
the weekend's events - who knows, it might help some of you remember what actually
happened! The plan is get a snap of every Maddie, whether it be at Yates's, the
auction, the karaoke, in fancy dress or just propping up the bar (and there were a few
of them). It'll then be mailed out to everyone who attended, so you can show yer
grandkids in years to come.
But to put this epic organ together I NEED PHOTOS. Just message me OFF LIST and I'll
let you know how to get pictures/stories etc to me to start compiling it. Hopefully I
can get it sorted by the end of July.
Finally, thank you to the legions of fellow Maddies who made it such a great weekend
and who it was a boozy pleasure to meet for the first time (even if I can't remember
all their names)...Geordie Jeff, Scouse Paul, Stu White, John 'Quiz' Young,
Gary/Bubble, Swanny (aka Dick Van Dyke), Steve C, Sigal, Simesy, Erica, Mountain Boy,
Sally the copper, The Mansfield Twins and their long-suffering sis, Bex ('Someone must
have spiked my drink'), Amy, 'Posh' Sarah, Jerney, the uncle-and-nephew Dudley karaoke
team, the two Vinces, the 5am Friday swimmers...there are probably a whole lot more
I've forgotten in my drunken haze. Top fellas one and all...roll on 2002!
Iain M
