Hello everyone in Virtual MAddieland, Well letter 3 didn't help anyone else with last week's Hangman so here are the answers: No.1 BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL (of course) No.2 WHATEVER MADE ME CLIMB THIS SIDE OF HELL from One's Second Thoughtlessness. Well done to all those who entered and got bits of them right, ie. Mr.G, Sophie, Rob, Simesy, Steve C, Geordie Al and Paul. And while I'm here I just thought I'd tell you of the nice couple of mentions Madness get on the DVD single of Catatonia's "Stone By Stone". For those who don't know it, those wonderful Welsh Madstock regulars have recorded their new album with messrs Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley in charge of production. And in the biography section of this DVD they describe the album as being "in the same tradition of accessible yet accomplished music that has characterised the best British pop: The Smiths, Madness, The Pretenders (???- American surely), Elvis Costello..." Then later they talk about working with "legendary producers" Clive and Alan, saying, "We'd liked all the stuff they'd done before. All the Madness stuff - some of the things they did with Dexy's. And we're all big fans of Shipbuilding by Elvis Costello, which Clive co-wrote." They're a lovely bunch, aren't they! Especially Cerys;-) And for anyone who has ever liked ANYTHING by Catatonia (like myself), it augors well for the new album.
