I'll chip in with my take on the story, daring to say that I think most of
you have totally missed the point as far as 'The Madness' is concerned, in
that Suggs, Carl, Lee and Chris did NOT want it to be compared in any way,
shape or form to any Madness material. All power to them for going off in a
different direction, is what I say. But unfortunately, when you've been
doing the same brand of music (albeit with subtle tweaks over the years) for
the best part of 8 years, it's kinda hard to actually BE different! Of
course, you have to take into account that your fans are gonna buy your new
material and compare so 'The Madness' (unless it sounded exactly like any
other Madness album before it!) was doomed to fall between two stools and
fail! Personally I think that it was a WONDERFUL (no pun intended) effort,
with some priceless songs like 'In Wonder', 'Song In Red', 'Beat The Bride',
and 'Nail Down The Days' ~ Tennessee Paul
