Hey Adele, >>A comment that for me really rankled was: 'They'll obviously do anything for cash >now!'
I rather think that what was meant as a throwaway jokey comment has been taken the wrong way. It was more a call to all the Maddies with impending nuptials to start saving and booking churches in foreign climes...just in case! I agree the offer to escape the British gloom and play at a millionaire's wedding/birthday/weenie roast with Christopher Biggins is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And you're right - I don't think many of us would have turned it down. Further more, who'd begrudge our heroes something if it makes them happy? It's just that I've just always thought of Madness as a band who did their own thing and couldn't be bought - no matter how warm the pool was. I can see both sides, and am happy that they're happy, but I must admit my first reaction was one of disappointment. I thought the same when Stevie Wonder was hired for Tom Hunter's 40th birthday party last year. But hey, everyone has their price - I'll do it for 2.50 and a bottle of Tizer! Still, I'm sure it was great for the select few that were lucky enough to see it. And if it loosened a few bones for the Xmas tour and they enjoyed it, that's got to be good, right? IainM PS If those six Lotto numbers drop right at 8pm, I'll be straight on the phone to book the new house band for the resulting party.
