Hi all!

It's good to be back and see the list back on it's feet again. As with
regards to this debate about Madness possibly being, let's face it, past
it, I would have to disagree for several reasons. The first is that we
all know Wonderful was a great album, which received equally good acclaim
by most reviewers. It didn't sell because Virgin were so crap at promoting
it. Before it cam out, Virgin should have elicited a response from the
British public of real enticipation, 'Madness - the band the Beatles COULD
have been', 'THE biggest selling british singles band of the eighties' 'The
band who redifined the pop video are finally back'. I mean, as far as I
know, Drip Fed Fred was Ian Dury's last ever recording, and if it was, why
didn't they beloow it from the rooftops? Cos they did a sh!t job, that's
why.
If Virgin wouldn't put out a single without an album, and possibly wouldn't
put out an album 'cos the last one didn't make a mint, then stuff 'em!
They are one label in a sea of thousands, BMG and EMI for starters... if
it comes to it why not RGR?
Regarding the 'horrible' prospect of Madness turning in to the Stones, I'm
now 22 and a couple of years ago I went to Don Valley to see them live,
and I have to say I was completely gob-smacked. You can say they look like
Grandad's, that their latest albums may not be much cop (not a problem our
boys have) but one thing's for sure, Mick Jagger has more energy in his
little finger than I had all last year.
Anyhow, that's my pennies worth. By the way, I have a question or two:
What's happening with the Velvet Ghost? Has the idea been abandoned or
is it just taking a long time?
How did the Crunch re-release go?
Ages ago I remember reading on the list that Suggs wouldn't mind making
a third solo album, anybody have word?
Has a new Madness album actually been written? I know they did Sarah's
Song for the musical.

Well, that's all from the A-bomb, sorry for the long mail. Stay nutty y'all,

A-bomb.

P.S. For anyone in neighbourhood, my band, Alchemy are at Hope & Anchor
in Islington on Monday, and Gossips at Soho on Wednesday. Cheers!
