Well, there was one - yours truly - but he didn't ask any questions (c'mon,
it was my day off!). RobW was first with his hand up, asking if Madness were
looking forward to playing Scotland, bearing in mind the problems with the
Hibs casuals in Edinburgh the last time. Of course the band said they were
looking forward to it, and claimed there was only trouble last time cos the
secuity staff were all so elderly! To be honest, the Q&A was very relaxed
and jokey, rather than a serious grilling. Carl was in fine form and
dominated proceedings, and both he and Suggs were very funny. I just feel
sorry for the guy who asked why Madness didn't play in Belgium, as he had
the mickey well and truly taken out of him and it became a running joke for
the rest of the proceedings. The other q's were pretty standard stuff, but
what impressed me was Tim Firth's passion for the whole thing. It's clearly
been a labour of love for him.

If you're a Madness fan, I'd say it's a must. The way some of the songs have
been re-worked and adpated for the stage is excellent, but they're certainly
still very recognisable. The second half does drag a bit IMHO, but I'm sure
there'll be some tinkering, and with the promise of a souped-up,
all-singing, all-dancing ending, by Oct 28 it should be just about perfect.

Thanks for your time, I'd be interested to hear what any others there on
Monday thought.

P.S.
On a highly self-indulgent level, there were some personal highlights for
me:
* Meeting some old (and not so old) faces from Blackpool and beyond. Yes,
that means you Steve, Cheryl, Chris, Chris, Graham, Caz, Bex, Jerney, Paul,
Adele and the rest.
* RobW and Carl crooning 'Mistakes' together after the Q&A - watch out Will
and Gareth.
* Standing beside Woody not once but twice in the gents. I'm sure he was
following me!
* Sympathising with Suggs over Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool the previous
day. 'It's not fair,' he monaed 'Every season I get excited, only to be let
down.' Try supporting Sheffield Wednesday chum...
