Abbas's militias and Israeli troops wage raids on Palestinian homes in
Tulkarem

TULKAREM, (PIC)-- Mahmoud Abbas's militias and the Israeli occupation forces
(IOF) in Tulkarem on Monday waged raids on a number of homes belonging to
Hamas supporters in the city and kidnapped a former senior official in the
ministry of local government after he was summoned for investigation.
Palestinian local sources said that Abbas's militias stormed and ransacked
before midnight yesterday a number of homes and confiscated some of their
contents but no arrests were reported.
Abbas's militias, however, kidnapped on Sunday morning Fathallah Al-Sa'iedi,
who was a senior official in the ministry of local government, after
summoning him for investigation. Sa'iedi served as an assistant
undersecretary in the ministry before he was dismissed by the Palestinian
Authority (PA) for his affiliation with Hamas.
The raids waged by Abbas's militias in Tulkarem were followed by others
carried out after midnight by IOF troops in the context of the security
coordination with the PA.
The IOF troops stormed homes of Hamas members and handed them summonses from
the Israeli intelligence.
In the same context, it was reported that Abbas's militias kidnapped six
Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas during the last two days in
Tulkarem, Al-Khalil and Qalqiliya.
Abbas's militias also refused to comply with court decisions ordering them
to release political prisoners Basheer Nofal and Munir Qaraqe'a from
Qalqiliya.
The IOF troops, for their part, kidnapped three Palestinian citizens from
Al-Khalil released recently from Abbas's jails.
In another related context, the Movement of Islamic Jihad demanded Abbas's
militias to disclose the fate of one of its members in Jenin after he was
kidnapped days ago and taken to an unknown destination.
An Islamic Jihad source told Safa news agency that Abbas's militias
kidnapped member of its student bloc in the Arab American University Fayez
Al-Shayeb, 21, and refused to reveal his fate so far.
For its part, the Palestinian journalist bloc on Monday strongly denounced
Abbas's militias for kidnapping journalist Tareq Abu Zeid, pointing out that
the number of journalists detained in West Bank jails rose to four.
The bloc said that the PA's persistence in targeting journalists violates
the freedom of the press and reflects its disrespect for all appeals made
for not involving journalists in the midst of the political conflict in the
Palestinian arena.
In another context, civil society institutions and national forces condemned
Monday the PA for dissolving elected municipal councils and forming a
caretaker committees in their place in the West Bank.
The institutions said that these arbitrary actions put the democracy of
election at risk, stressing the need to adhere to the democratic norms and
the principle of legitimacy derived from the will of voters.
